Ceiling Fans and Drywall

So, I haven't posted in a while (what's new), but I just had to post this evening. I haven't posted this yet, but I bought a house at the end of May (more details later this week) and have been doing little odd-ball home improvement items over the past two months.

To fulfill my arrangement with my graphic design specialist, I was supposed to have finished painting my bedroom by the end of July...other more pressing home improvement items have been keeping me busy, but I finally got around to starting the work on the two stripes in my bedroom on Saturday. Well, after we got started, we decided to finish fixing the ceiling fan before moving all the furniture into the middle of the room. We, of course, couldn't find the part we needed, so I ended up buying a whole new ceiling fan.

While installing it, we noticed the drywall in the ceiling was falling apart. Apparently, it looks like the drywall had water damage and instead of replacing it, the previous owners decided to just paint it. So, we cut out a 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 section of the ceiling and replaced it. While in there, we found that the electrical box in the ceiling was not actually attached to anything...might explain why the old ceiling fan vibrated so much. ;)

So, know I have a nice new piece of drywall in my ceiling which has to be finished off with the plaster stuff and then painted before the ceiling fan can be put back. Of course, the stripes need to be done, too.

Ahhhhh...at least it is my house. :) More home stuff later this week along with a big party announcement.
