Descent into the iTunes Store

I've had my iPod for almost ten months now. Until this past weekend, every song on my iPod has been one where I actually own the CD (plus a few from Mr. Murphy). Usually, I listen to songs on the radio or online and then buy the CD if I like the songs I hear...yes, I know I am a good RIAA slave Dawn and Greg.

However, this past week changed that. I was listening to 89X and kept hearing a song that I like so I decided to look it up. So, I forced myself to remember a couple lines of the song so I could look it up as I always seemed to miss the name of the song or the artist when listening to it on the radio. So, it turned out the song I liked was "When You Were Young" by the Killers. I don't know what it is about the song, but I really like the lyrics. Normally, I would listen to some of the other songs on the CD to see if I liked it enough to buy the CD. To my chagrin, the CD isn't even out yet...imagine that, me listening to a song not released yet.

So, I poked around to see if I could find an, err... "illegal" copy to download and listen to...no such luck. So, I decided to make the plunge and purchased it from iTunes for $.99. A pretty painless process other than I was annoyed that I couldn't copy it to my PC from my Mac without installing iTunes...blasted copy protection. That being said, the process was pretty smooth and I'm happy to have the song to listen to over and over again. ;) I'll have to see what the actual CD is like to figure out if I want to buy it.
